Student Guild Post 16 Leadership Team

The Student Guild team will oversee the direction of the Post 16 and will represent Post 16 at key formal events. They will have the responsibility and privilege of being the voice of all Post 16 learners.  These leadership opportunities will enable our students to develop in the following ways:

Leadership Skills

  • To take responsibility for self and others
  • To develop organisational skills
  • To develop communication shills
  • To develop self confidence in working with others
  • To develop confidence in leading small groups

Potential Activities

There are numerous ways that students can extend their leadership skills. The activities undertaken will be negotiated between individual students and subject staff. Possible activities could be:

  • Working within departments to support younger students
  • Plan, prepare & assist with a simple activity in lessons
  • Communicate with younger students
  • Act as a mentor or coach for younger students
  • Motivate younger students
  • Share subject expertise with younger students
  • Make departmental games & activities for use within lessons
  • Act as ambassadors for departments at formal school events

Work Experience

To ensure all students are prepared for the world of work and can gain valuable experience and insight into future possible areas, all students in Year 12 will undertake a period of work experience.

Visiting Speakers & Citizenship

An extensive programme of professional, external speakers will be organised. Topics will be diverse and relevant and will include: ethical and moral issues, politics, personal safety, health, future careers, universities, apprenticeships.

Post 16 is expanding its range of international trips, which currently include building houses in Mexico as part of a charity event to keep families together.  Charities involved (Urban Safe & Amour Ministry) & Disneyland Paris.
